Earlier this summer, I was able to meet the Smith family at their family lake house and capture some fun memories! We had a fun time exploring the area, skipping rocks, and playing. The kids were relaxed in front of the camera and had me cracking up most of the session.
I’m beyond thrilled to share my feature with The Twelfth Year today. The Twelfth Year is a site I love so my work being displayed there is a huge honor. It’s a site that specializes in resources for senior photographers and happens to be run by one of the nicest people I know in the photography community, Galicia from Photography by Galicia. The blog discusses the session from more of a photography point of view, but I’ll share here some of my favorite things from Abbie’s session.
First of all Abbie is just a sweet girl inside and out. She made the session fun and trusted all my crazy directions, which always include fake laughing and a lot of twirling. Abbie and her mom put a lot of preparation into the session and it really showed! Her hair and makeup were professionally done, and definitely looked flawless. I love how well her outfits showed off the sides of her personality and provided 3 very different looks.
Thanks again to The Twelfth Year for fan feature!
We had the most gorgeous fall day for Abbie’s session. We had to push back her session for reason after reason, but it worked out for the best because it was so pretty! Abbie picked several outfits all with a different feel, so we worked to tailor each location to the outfits. I love her use of fun accessories and the fact that she was so at home in front of the camera!
Rachel Coney is an Arkansas senior photographer. She currently serves the central Arkansas area.
I’ve been a whole mix of emotions trying to write this blog. Nervous, anxious and really excited!
So here it goes… Rachel Coney Photography is now specializing in Senior and Family Portraiture.
I can’t wait to start doing more styled shoots with my seniors and dreaming and carrying out all kinds of fun and exciting sessions!
But what does this mean for my current and future clients who were interested in maternity, newborn, or child portraits?
If you’re already booked with me it means absolutely nothing. Your session will go completely as planned. If you haven’t booked but were wanting to, we can still book your session! Don’t worry! It just means I will be taking less of these session to make room in my calendar. So as soon as you’re ready to book let me know and we’ll get you on the calendar.
But why? Why start specializing now? In my season of life, I just didn’t know many seniors or parents of seniors. So when I first started out in photography the chances to do senior photography didn’t come organically. As my business grew, I had opportunities to try different types of sessions and this year I fell in love with Seniors.
I could never give up my families so I will still be shooting full family sessions and I will have a fall family mini session date scheduled on my calendar.
If you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to contact me! Interested in a senior session? Get in touch! I’m holding a special for the next five 2016 or 2017 seniors that book.
This little girl was so full of fun and personality! At 6 months, I warn my parents that sometimes it takes a little bit for them to warm up during a session. It can be overwhelming and full of new (and distracting!) experiences. But she took to me in no time and we had a blast! Can’t get over her sweet little smile.
This is my third shoot with Miss Ezra and I could honestly shoot her once a week and be happy! She has so much personality and we have so much fun! Even through mosquitoes and humidity and heat that could potentially ruin a shoot, she was a trooper. Such a sweet, precious girl!

Yes, we all got tired of the winter weather. Next year I would like to order two snow days a month in December, January, and February instead of all at once. Please and thank you…
But we tried to make the best of it our house and spent lots of time out playing in it and eating snow ice cream and mommy spent a lot of time trying to capture these sweet memories. The wonder of snow through a two year old’s eyes is an amazing thing to watch.
Make sure you check out the other ladies in our blog circle. Next up is Emily’s blog.
I had to share a few hospital pictures from my sweet niece Winry’s birthday. She was so tiny and perfect it was hard to put her down! Love these brand new baby hospital sessions. So real and new, I just can’t get enough.
